Data on your device
Grain stores connections you choose to remember (server, username, password, name and avatar) in Keychain. Profiles, preferences, favourites, recents, series, marathons and progress are kept in encrypted local files. The library includes references and metadata for saved titles. Interface language and terms acceptance are stored locally. Grain does not download videos to keep as files.
iCloud synchronisation
When iCloud is available, Grain Mac 1.0 syncs connections and your personal library through your Apple Account’s private database. The package is encrypted before upload and its key is stored in an encrypted CloudKit field. Videos and the full catalogue are not synced. Animetra does not receive a copy on its servers or have access to your private library. Apple provides iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy. The app keeps local data to work without iCloud; use the same Apple Account on your devices.
Providers, images and demo
Grain requests catalogue data, images and video directly from servers specified by your provider. They may receive your IP address, technical information and credentials needed to respond; images may come from other domains. The provider determines its own privacy practices. With HTTP, requests and credentials may travel without transport encryption: use HTTPS where available. The demo uses fictional titles and requests a technical video from Apple’s CDN, which receives technical details of that connection.
This website
This website uses no cookies, browser storage, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or external fonts. The server receives your IP address and request to deliver the page. Routine visit logging is disabled for this site. Technical errors may log IP addresses and request details for up to 14 days to diagnose faults and protect the service. Hostinger provides hosting; email is managed with Poste.io on our hosted infrastructure.
When you contact support
We receive your email address, name if provided, message and attachments. We use them to respond, investigate issues and handle privacy requests. We do not need passwords, private playlists or playback URLs. We retain enquiries for up to 12 months after closure, unless a legal obligation or claim justifies keeping the necessary data longer. The app includes no analytics, advertising or Animetra telemetry.
Purposes, legal bases and recipients
We handle service-related requests to perform a contract or take pre-contractual steps you request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). General enquiries and technical security rely on our legitimate interest in responding and maintaining a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f)); legal obligations rely on Art. 6(1)(c). We do not sell data or create advertising profiles. Authorised staff and hosting and email service providers have access only as needed; we may disclose data where required by law. Content providers and Apple process direct connections under their own policies. If processing under our responsibility requires a transfer outside the EEA, it must rely on an adequacy decision or GDPR safeguards such as standard contractual clauses; you may request information on applicable safeguards.
Library retention and deletion
Local and iCloud data remain until you remove them using the available controls. Removing a connection deletes the saved access but keeps its library so you can recover it when adding the account again. There is no single control yet to erase the entire library, Keychain and iCloud data. Uninstalling the app does not guarantee deletion. Contact support for guidance; Animetra cannot remotely inspect, export or delete your private library. Apple’s controls also manage iCloud storage and copies.
Your rights
For data processed by Animetra, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability where applicable, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier processing. Email support@animetra.cloud; we may request proportionate information to verify your identity. You can complain to your local data protection authority or Estonia’s Andmekaitse Inspektsioon (aki.ee). We do not make automated decisions with legal effects. Grain profiles are not parental controls.
Changes
We will publish updates and their date here. If we add services or change data handling, we will update this policy and, where appropriate, inform you through the app. This version covers Mac 1.0 behaviour and does not announce availability on other platforms.
